What is Coast to Coast

This is an event held every second year in the Wellington region. A day long event for quilters from all over the region and New Zealand to show and tell, shop, share, laugh and learn together. This year's event is proudly hosted by Capital Quilters.

Last minute change of speaker!

It's Thursday evening and while I was at Massey University helping Leimomi Oakes get  models ready for her talk on Pompeii to Paris, I got a message that Robyn Burgess is unable to speak at Coast to Coast due to a family bereavement. Such sad news and our thoughts are all with Robyn at this sad time for her.
But Coast to Coast must go on and so right there and then I was able to secure Leimomi as our replacement speaker, as well as some of the models.
We didn't have time to confirm the exact topic, but there will be full reproduction costumes modelled, there may be some on the Japonisme movement, in keeping with our theme:

And due to the shortness of the notice, there may be some cross over with her other events, "From the Streets of Pompeii to the Salons of Paris", and "Capturing the Mode."

It's not quite about quilting, admittedly, but Leimomi has delighted audiences at quilting guilds with her talks on historical textiles all around the lower North Island. A part time lecturer in the history of textiles at Massey University in Wellington, she is also a popular speaker, designer of costumes and wedding dresses, and an all round lovely, warm, engaging person!
